Benet House Retreat Center

The Sisters of St. Benedict invite you to lovely Benet House Retreat Center at St. Mary Monastery, Rock Island, Illinois.

Built in 2001 as a place apart to seek the Holy One for persons of all faiths, Benet House offers a setting of peace, beauty and tranquility for any retreat or program you choose.

Benet House is situated atop a hill overlooking woods and lake.  Walking paths provide you with quiet and solitude. Private rooms provide you with sanctuary.  Our library is open to you, as is our dining room for lunch and dinner. A common kitchen at Benet House will be stocked with breakfast items and snacks for your convenience.

You are welcome to join the community in the monastery chapel for Lauds, Noon Prayer, Vespers and Eucharist. See our daily prayer schedule for more information.

You can arrive at Benet House Retreat Center from Chicago, IL in about 3 hours, and from Des Moines, IA in about 2.5 hours depending on traffic.
There are also bus options available from Chicago and other major transportation hubs. Moline, IL and Davenport, IA are the closest major transit stops to Benet House Retreat Center. ‍

By flight:
Quad Cities International Airport is 15-minutes by car from Benet House Retreat Center.

Rideshare & Taxi Service:
Uber and Lyft services are available but may be limited in this area. Please check ahead of time as they are sometimes not available or require waiting.
Due to limited service, normally you must reserve a taxi in advance. We recommend contacting them the day before to ensure taxis are available. Taxis may be cash only.
