Stefanie MacDonald, OSB, serves as Vocation Director for St. Mary Monastery and teacher at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Academy in East Moline, IL. 

Born in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Steve and Kathy MacDonald, Stefanie attended grade school in Holy Ghost School, Dubuque, IA, and high school Wahlert High School, Dubuque, IA. 

She earned an Associate of Arts from Mount St. Clare College, Clinton, IA and a Bachelor of Arts from University of Dubuque, Dubuque, IA.    Sr. Stefanie entered the community in 2007 and made her perpetual profession in 2013.      

Sr. Stefanie’s current ministry includes teaching Preschool at Our Lady of Grace Academy, East Moline, IL.  She also taught at St. John Vianney Preschool, Bettendorf, IA, St. Pius X School, Cedar Rapids, IA,  St. Joseph’s School Bellevue, IA and Grace’s Place, Naperville, IL.  Prior to entering the community, she assisted with retreats at the Archdioceses of Dubuque Persons with Disabilities office.  

Serving on the Monastic Council for St. Mary Monastery, Sr. Stefanie is also a member of the monastic liturgy committee, vocation/formation board, Communication Contact Team, and  Life Formation Committee.  She is a current member of NRVC (National Religious Vocation Conference), DAVA (Dubuque Area Vocation Association), PEARL (Peoria Association for Religious Life), NABVFC (North American Benedictine Vocation Formation Conference), the Monastic Worship Forum and the NCEA (National Catholic Education Association). 

As board president for the SPEC (Special People Encounter Christ), Sr. Stefanie is also chairperson of the marketing committee for Our Lady of Grace Academy in East Moline, IL and participates on NCYC (National Catholic Youth Conference) and the National Catholic Education Association Conference.

Sr. Stefanie has a deep love of music, nature and catholic education, as well as a passion for the Benedictine monastic life and people with disabilities.
