Our Lady of Guadalupe

We welcomed students from Our Lady of Grace Catholic Academy who acted out a skit about Our Lady of Guadalupe. Here's the story:

A poor man named Juan Diego was on his way to a nearby barrio to attend Mass in honor of Our Lady.

He walked past Tepeyac Hill when he heard beautiful music and looked up. He saw a lady who spoke to him in his own language and asked him to build a chapel where she stood.

She sent him to the bishop of Mexico.

The bishop sent Juan away empty-handed. Returning to the beautiful lady, Juan said he couldn't convince the bishop to build the chapel. The lady sent him back to the bishop.

This time, the bishop was more receptive. But he told Juan the lady needed to send him a sign.

Meantime, Juan's uncle grew seriously ill. Juan tried to avoid the lady in order to get to his uncle. But she found him, assured him his uncle would recover, and sent the sign of roses for the bishop.

When Juan opened his cape to deliver the roses to the bishop, the roses fell to the ground and revealed an image of the Blessed Mother exactly as she appeared on Tepeyac.

The bishop rejoiced and build the chapel.

Our Lady of Guadalupe is celebrated on her feast day every year, December 12.

Thanks, OLGCA students, for sharing such a wonderful presentation with us!
