Self Compassion and the Cancer Journey

  • Benet House Retreat Center 2200 88th Avenue West Rock Island, IL, 61201 United States (map)

We know the experience of living with cancer is a life challenge. How do we sustain our hope, energy, and trust in the future? On this retreat day, there will be sharing of practical ways to nurture our self-compassion so we can live with positive energy about ourselves and our journey of a ‘new normal’.

Dates: Saturday, Feb. 1; May 17

Time:  9:30 am – 3:30 pm (includes lunch)

Retreat Leader: Sister Bobbi Bussan, OSB

Fee: Free: Our sponsor is the Midwest Hope and Healing Grant through the Moline Regional Foundation.

Sr. Bobbi is the Director of Benet House and is a 19-year survivor of uterine and ovarian cancers. She was cancer-free for 12 years. Since 2017 she has experienced 4 re-occurrences. “I want to provide this opportunity for survivors to share stories, share hope, share struggles, and leave with a richer self-compassion that enables each of us to live with hope in the future.”  There will be quiet time, input, and group discussion.
