Sister Jane Fleshner, O.S.B, 1914-2001

Nauvoo – A funeral Mass for Sister Jane Fleshner, OSB, a former teacher throughout the Diocese of Peoria, was offered March 31 at St. Mary’s Monastery here.

Burial followed on April 2 at Calvary Cemetery in Rock Island.  Sister Jane, 86, died on March 29, 2001, at St. Mary’s Monastery.

Born Sept. 12, 1914, in Urbana, Sister Jane professed final vows as a Benedictine Sister on July 6, 1936.  She was a teacher in Illinois and Indiana.

In the Peoria Diocese, Sister Jane taught at Immaculate Conception School in Monmouth, St. John’s School in Bradford, St. Boniface School in Peoria, St. Roch’s School in LaSalle and St. Mary’s School in Wenona.

Survivors include two brothers, Charles Fleming of Brookfield, Wis. And Robert Fleming of Brookfield, Colo., and two sisters, Helen Williams of Plymouth, Wis. and Shirley McCauley of Hardin.
