Sister Mary Ann Datin, O.S.B., 1907-1993
Sr. Mary Anne Datin, 86, of the St. Mary Priory, Nauvoo, Ill., died at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1993, at the Priory.
Born April 1, 1907, at Nauvoo, Ill., she was the daughter of Louis and Theresa Masberg Datin.
She entered the religious community Dec. 8, 1925, and made her first profession June 28, 1927, and her final profession Aug. 26, 1930. She celebrated her Diamond Jubilee in 1987. Her last mission was at St. Peter’s Parish in Peoria, Ill., where she helped in the food pantry.
Sr. Mary Anne taught music at Immaculate Conception at Monmouth, Ill.; St. John at Clinton, Ill.; St. Patrick at Havana, Ill.; St. Columba at Chicago, Ill.; St. Mary at Moline, Ill.; St. Boniface at Peoria, Ill.; St. Anthony at Atkinson, Ill.; and St. Mary Academy at Nauvoo.
Survivors include a brother, Louis Datin of Arkansas; and two sisters, Virginia Sullivan of Fort Madison and Genevieve Bienvenue of California.
The body of Sr. Mary Anne will lie in state after 4:00 p.m. today at the St. Mary Priory Chapel where a vigil service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m.
The funeral for Sr. Mary Anne will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the St. Mary Priory Chapel, Nauvoo, with the Rev. Richard Slavish officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Nauvoo.
Barr Memorial Chapel of Fort Madison is in charge of arrangements.
