Sister Clarisse Fallon, O.S.B., 1904-1991
Sister Clarisse Fallon, OSB, 86, of the St. Mary Priory in Nauvoo, Ill., died at 5:45 p.m. Thursday, March 7, 1991, at the priory.
Born Sept. 15, 1904, in Ivesdale, Ill., she was the daughter of John A. and Mary A. Gallivan Fallon.
She had been a resident of the St. Mary Priory for the past 64 years. She received her B.S. degree in education from the University of Illinois and her Masters degree from DePaul University of Chicago. She entered the Order of St. Benedict pronouncing her final vows Dec. 8, 1927, and celebrated 60 years of religious life in 1987. She taught school in Moline and Nauvoo. She was prioress superior at St. Mary Priory from 1960 to 1972. She served as the Nauvoo Community Archivist for 15 years.
She is survived by her Benedictine community and several nieces.
The body has been donated to medical science through the Demonstrators Association of Illinois
A memorial mass for Sr. Fallon will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at St. Mary Priory Chapel, Nauvoo, with the Rev. Paul Showalter officiating.
Barr Memorial Chapel of Fort Madison is in charge of arrangements.
