Choose Your Gifts With Care

We continue a short series written by Benedictine Sisters on what Christmas means to them. Enjoy!

By Sister Helen Carey, OSB

Christmas is about thinking of others.

What we give needs to be what someone really needs. The gift of our time and our affection, for instance. Our attention.

Gifts should be chosen for the joy they will give, whether a book or a pair of socks or something homemade.

Dom Columba Marmion, OSB wrote, “Joy is the echo of God’s life in us.”

What a great insight!

And what a great focus for our gift-giving.

This Christmas, let’s look for opportunities to share delight and joy, and give to others what God gives to us.
